About the Winery

Premonition Cellars is the label of Anthony Schroth, its founder, grower and winemaker. He came to Sonoma County to play baseball at Sonoma State, took a wine course when the accounting class he wanted was full, interned at O'Brien Family Vineyards in Napa, and then worked at Harvest Moon Estate & Winery in the Russian River Valley. In 2007 he took on a struggling Pinot Noir vineyard and nursed it back to quality, and in 2009 he founded Premonition.

The wines are Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, Reserve Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Mourvèdre. They have collected a long list of medals, including Best of Class for the 2022 Reserve Pinot Noir at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and Double Gold for the 2021 Mourvèdre.

There is no tasting room open to the public. Premonition makes its wine in a shared winemaking building on Coffey Lane in Santa Rosa, and tastings there are a benefit of its free-to-join wine club, which ships twice a year. The day below stays on Coffey Lane and in the Russian River Valley, starting with two of its neighbors.

Tasting Fees

Premonition has no public tastings; complimentary tastings are a wine club benefit. On the day below, fees run $65 at Donelan, $20 at Carol Shelton and $45 at Benovia, paid to each winery.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
