Brenda Lynch and her husband, Chris, met in the California wine business, and in 1995 they started Mutt Lynch, combining their two passions: wine and all things dog. Asked why they gave a winery a dog-themed name, Brenda's answer has been "Why not." She began by helping Chris and moved into running the cellar and making the wine, after winemaking jobs in Argentina and at Hartford Family Winery and ZMoore in the Russian River Valley, and today she is winemaker and owner.
The wines are limited-production and handcrafted from vineyards in Sonoma County and neighboring regions: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, including the Miss Understood Pinot Noir. The winery supports local, national and international animal rescue groups with donations of wine and time.
The tasting room is in downtown Windsor, by the Town Green, and it bills itself as the most dog-friendly winery in Sonoma County: bring your dog, and it is treated as the guest of honor. It has been voted the most pet-friendly winery in Sonoma County and won a 2024 Bohemian Best of the North Bay readers' poll award. It is a relaxed, cheerful stop, and the one to choose when the family dog is along for the trip.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
