About the Winery

Steve MacRostie made his first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 1974, when Sonoma County had only about 40 small wineries, and founded MacRostie Winery and Vineyards in 1987. In 1997 he established Wildcat Mountain Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap, on the edge of Carneros. Lion Nathan USA, part of the Australian company Lion Nathan, bought the winery in 2011, and Steve stayed on as a consultant and spokesman.

MacRostie makes cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast region, including single-vineyard wines, and its wines have earned more than 365 scores of 90 points or higher. Heidi Bridenhagen was named winemaker in 2013, at 29, only the third winemaker in the winery's history.

The Estate House opened in 2015 on Westside Road, as the winery's tasting room and home, looking out over the vineyards. The Signature Experience pours five wines, focused on single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and on Sundays tastings between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. come with live music and a pastry.

Tasting Fees

$50 for the Signature Experience of five wines, 1 to 2 hours depending on party size. $125 for the 2-hour Nightwing Food & Wine Experience, with caviar, cheeses, charcuterie and a barrel tasting.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
