The López family has farmed this vineyard in Alexander Valley since 1978, when Ramiro López and his father bought the land along Highway 128 in Geyserville. For decades the family grew grapes for others and harvested every vintage by hand. In 2019 they began replanting the estate around Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the varieties they felt best suited the site.
Ramiro's son, Freddy López, launched López Family Vineyards in 2023, starting with a rosé. The lineup now includes estate-grown Rosé of Cabernet Franc and Malbec, plus wines from selected growers such as a North Coast Chenin Blanc, made with consulting winemaker Will Gondak. The family also makes candles named for vineyard clones, which help fund the farming.
There is no tasting room. Visits are arranged by appointment and begin with a guided walk through the vineyard, followed by an outdoor seated tasting of the estate wines and the stories behind them, about an hour and a half in all. We confirm current details when we book.
López Family Vineyards does not publish a tasting fee. The fee for the vineyard walk and seated tasting is confirmed when we book. Wine club members receive complimentary tastings twice a year.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
