Walt and Joan Flowers found their land on the far Sonoma Coast through a three-line classified ad in Wine Spectator, before the region was known for Pinot Noir. They planted Camp Meeting Ridge in 1991, sold their first grapes to Kistler and started their own winery in 1994. In 2009 Napa Valley's Huneeus Vintners formed a partnership with Flowers and made a long-term investment in the winery.
Camp Meeting Ridge, the flagship estate vineyard, sits about two miles from the ocean at nearly 1,500 feet, above the fog line, north of the town of Jenner. Sea View Ridge, even closer to the water, was planted almost entirely to Pinot Noir in 1998. Flowers has farmed organically and biodynamically since its beginning.
The coastal estate is too remote to receive visitors, so in July 2019 Flowers opened House of Flowers on the 15.5-acre former VML Winery site on Westside Road, designed by Walker Warner Architects among gardens and redwood groves. Tastings are guided and come with food from the in-house culinary team, and each fall a guest chef cooks for the Estate Vineyard Immersion.
$75 for the Sonoma Coast Journey, a guided flight of three appellation wines with a seasonal crudité and snack board, 60 minutes. $130 for the Estate Vineyard Immersion of four Camp Meeting Ridge and Sea View Ridge wines with food pairings, 90 minutes. $150 for Elements of Site, five collectible estate wines, 90 minutes, at 10 a.m. Thursday and Friday.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
