Vines were first planted on this estate at the foot of the Stags Leap palisades in 1872. In 1885 Horace Chase bought the land, and the Chase family built the grey stone Manor House from locally quarried rock. From 1913 the Grange family ran the estate as a well-known resort.
Carl Doumani revived the winery in 1970 and built a following for its Petite Sirah. Since 1996 it has been part of Beringer and today Treasury Wine Estates. Stags' Leap Winery and its neighbor Stag's Leap Wine Cellars famously share a name, settled by a court ruling on where the apostrophe goes.
A visit centers on the Manor House, its gardens and porches, with Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon and red blends. It is one of the most atmospheric historic estates in the valley.
$95 for the Manor House Experience, about 90 minutes. $110 for the outdoor Porch Tasting and $150 for Take the Leap, Thursday to Sunday. Private groups are $120.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
