Cliff Lede, a Canadian who fell for Bordeaux wines, founded Cliff Lede Vineyards in 2002 on 60 acres in the Stags Leap District, just off the Yountville Cross Road. The winery, designed by Howard Backen, was completed in 2005, and the family still owns it.
Music runs through the estate. The vineyard blocks are named for classic rock songs, and the Backstage lounge shows art by rock musicians. The flagship Poetry Cabernet Sauvignon has earned several 100-point scores.
The wines are Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style reds, poured at the bar, on terraces over the vines or in private lounges. It is a lively, polished visit a few minutes from Yountville.
$40 for the Bar Tasting, 45 minutes. $70 for the Reserved Tasting, an hour. $100 for the VIP and $110 for the Backstage tasting, each 90 minutes. Private Platinum and Poetry tastings are $295 and $395 plus a service charge.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
