Spring Mountain District · Napa Valley
A historic 845-acre mountain estate above St. Helena, home of the Miravalle mansion, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.
Book a Six-Hour Wine Tour
Spring Mountain Vineyard joins three estates founded on the mountain between 1872 and 1884: La Perla, Chevalier and Miravalle. La Perla planted the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines on Spring Mountain, and Chevalier built a gravity-flow winery. Tiburcio Parrott commissioned the Victorian mansion Miravalle in 1884. The neighboring estates were brought together as one property in the 1990s.
The estate covers 845 acres in the Spring Mountain District, from near St. Helena up to ridgetops at about 1,700 feet. The winery says the climb brings a temperature difference of up to 30 degrees between low and high blocks. Its 1973 Chardonnay placed fourth at the 1976 Judgment of Paris, and from 1981 to 1990 Miravalle stood in for the family home on the TV drama Falcon Crest.
Every visit is private and guided by an Estate Ambassador, for parties of 1 to 7. Walks take in a 19th-century olive grove, botanical gardens and terraced vineyards before a seated tasting of estate wines. For a longer day, the three-hour Spring Mountain Explorers visit climbs 1,300 feet across the estate by off-road vehicle.
$95 for the Vista or Judgment of Paris experience, each about 90 minutes. $200 for the Founders Cabernet Sauvignon experience, about 90 minutes. $395 for Spring Mountain Explorers, an off-road estate tour and tasting of about 3 hours.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
