Dr. Madaiah Revana, a cardiologist, first visited Napa Valley as a medical resident in the mid-1970s. In 1997 he bought this property north of St. Helena and planted the vineyard in 1998, with Jim Barbour as viticulturist and Heidi Barrett as winemaker. The first vintage was 2001, and the winery opened in 2004.
Revana focuses on small-lot Cabernet Sauvignon from its organically farmed estate vineyard in the St. Helena AVA, along with site-specific wines from small family growers. The 2007 Revana Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was named the No. 4 wine in the world by Wine Spectator. Thomas Rivers Brown consults on the wines, Rose Ballantine became winemaker in 2025, and Jim Barbour still manages the vineyard.
The winery was designed by architect Howard Backen, with indoor and outdoor spaces for guests. Every visit is a private appointment. The Cellar Experience pairs a sommelier-led tasting of limited-production Cabernet with a walk through the vineyard and the barrel room. Estate chef David Gross cooks for the longer seated experiences, from a four-course tasting to a Wagyu and truffle dinner.
$125 for the Revana Estate Cellar Experience, 90 minutes, with optional cheese and charcuterie ($25) or two library vintages ($50). $295 for The Private Table ($250 for members), a two-hour, four-course pairing. $750 for the Revana Icons Dinner, 2.5 hours, minimum 6 guests and a minimum wine purchase.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
