Napa · Napa Valley
Napa Valley Cabernet from vineyard specialist Michael Savaiano, named for the dappled light of a balanced vine. Pezzato does not receive visitors; here is what to know, and a day at sought-after estates nearby that do host.

Pezzato is the label of Michael Savaiano, whose great-grandfather made red wine at home and whose father, from the time Michael was six, took him along to wine shops and tasting rooms across California. Michael later spent nearly a decade at Premier Pacific Vineyards, a Napa vineyard development firm, tasting with more than 100 winemakers each vintage and adjusting the farming to suit each one's style.
The name, Italian for roughly "dark and light," nods to his heritage and to the dappled sunlight of a well-balanced vine canopy. After a stretch in San Francisco's tech scene, he apprenticed during harvests with winemaker Russell Bevan, moved back to wine country in 2017 and joined Tench Vineyards, where he became Director of Winemaking and Viticulture. Pezzato makes a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and the I Nonni Cabernet, both praised by Jeb Dunnuck.
Production is small, and the wine is sold through the website and its mailing list. Pezzato publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. Since Michael's career runs through Tench Vineyards on the Oakville bench, the day below starts there.
Pezzato does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Bardessono or Hotel Yountville.
Since Pezzato does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do, starting on the Oakville bench. Bardessono and Hotel Yountville are both in Yountville, about 10 minutes from the first stop. The day runs just over six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 10 minutes away. The eastern Oakville bench vineyard where Margaret Tench and Rem Reigersman built a winery with caves in 2017, and where Pezzato's Michael Savaiano became Director of Winemaking and Viticulture. Visits take about two hours and cover the winery, caves and vineyard; any fee is confirmed when the family sets the appointment. By prior appointment, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
About 10 minutes away. Lunch at R+D Kitchen, a relaxed Yountville spot with a sushi bar and a patio, open for lunch daily. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. The small, dog-friendly winery Nils Venge founded on a quiet lane off the Oakville Cross Road, with picnic tables under the sycamores. The tasting is $40, an ever-changing flight that always includes a Cabernet; we allow about an hour. By appointment daily, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the half hour.
About 10 minutes away. A small-lot winery born on Howell Mountain in 1991, pouring seated tastings at The Yount Room in historic Yountville Station. The seated Winery Focus flight of four current releases is $50; we plan about an hour. Open daily 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Back by about 4:10 p.m., just over six hours after pickup.
About $90 per person in published tasting fees (Saddleback and Cornerstone), paid directly to each winery; Tench confirms any fee when we book.
The Tench visit runs about two hours, so this day is a little longer than six hours. Tench confirms its time when it accepts the request. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
