About the Winery

Vines were first planted here in the late 1880s by Boon Fly, whose name lives on at the nearby café. Johnny Garetto bought the property in 1927 and made wine through the middle of the century, and Bouchaine calls itself the oldest continuously operating winery in Carneros.

The Copeland family owns the winery today. Its 104 acres of estate vineyards, cooled by San Pablo Bay, were the first in Napa Valley certified Fish Friendly Farming, and a new wine cave is being built beside the tasting room.

Bouchaine is known for estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, poured in a garden or on a terrace with views over the vines. With all ages and dogs welcome at the Garden Tasting, it is one of the most relaxed stops in Carneros.

Tasting Fees

$45 for the Garden Tasting, about 90 minutes. $75 for the Terrace Tasting, about an hour. Friday to Sunday specialty experiences run $95 to $125 plus a 20% service charge.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
