CADE Estate Winery

About the Winery

CADE was founded in 2005 by John Conover, Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty, the partners behind PlumpJack. The estate covers 54 acres at about 1,850 feet on Howell Mountain, above the town of Angwin. In 2016 the team bought the neighboring 82-acre vineyard now known as 13th Vineyard, and CADE remains part of the PlumpJack group of wineries today.

CADE was built with the environment in mind. In 2010 it became the first estate winery in California to earn LEED Gold certification, and its vineyards are farmed organically and certified by CCOF. A 15,000-square-foot cave, finished in 2008, holds a steady 58 degrees without heating or cooling. The estate grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Sauvignon Blanc.

The visit is a seated, hour-long tasting of current-release Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon made by winemaker Danielle Cyrot, who has led the winemaking since 2012. The estate sits at about 1,850 feet, and the tasting looks out over Napa Valley. Tastings are by appointment only and prepaid, so plan ahead, especially on weekends.

Tasting Fees

$100 per person for the Current Release Tasting, a seated tasting of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, about 60 minutes.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
