Zouzounis Wines is the label of Phyllis Zouzounis, one of Sonoma County's early women winemakers. She started in 1980 in the tasting room at Dry Creek Vineyard, where owner David Stare gave her a job, took winemaking courses at Santa Rosa Junior College and UC Davis, and worked her way up to assistant winemaker. In 1987 she and her partner Jim Penpraze started Deux Amis in Dry Creek Valley with 100 cases of single-vineyard Zinfandel. Jim retired in 2013, and Deux Amis became Zouzounis Wines, with Phyllis as sole owner and winemaker.
Along the way she was winemaker and general manager at Mazzocco Vineyards and made wine for West Wines, Bedarra Vineyards, Tre Ricci and Raymond Burr Vineyards. Her focus is Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from Dry Creek and Alexander Valley growers she has worked with for years, with a Sauvignon Blanc for white wine drinkers. Her stated aim is balance, of the vine, the fruit and the wine.
The tasting room is in the back of a building in the Windsor Beverage District. It is open on Saturday afternoons, and Sunday tastings can be arranged by appointment. It is a chance to taste with a winemaker whose career runs through much of Dry Creek Valley's Zinfandel history. We confirm current details when we book.
Zouzounis Wines does not publish a tasting fee. The fee is confirmed when we book.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
