The ranch's documented history goes back to 1841, with past owners that include Dr. Edward Bale and Charles Krug. Dr. Lee Titus, a radiologist, and his wife Ruth bought the land in 1968 and brought in their first harvest in 1969. For two decades the family sold grapes to wineries such as Beaulieu, Charles Krug and Cuvaison, and their sons made the first Titus Vineyards wines in 1990.
Brothers Eric and Phillip Titus run the winery today, Eric managing the winery and vineyards and Phillip directing the winemaking. The family farms two vineyards in the St. Helena AVA: the 50-acre Ranch Estate at the base of Howell Mountain, and a 10-acre vineyard of rocky volcanic soil on Ehlers Lane planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot. Two blocks of dry-farmed Zinfandel from the family's 1970s replanting are still producing.
The winery, begun in 2014 and designed by architect Matt Hollis, sits on a small rise above the vines, with a 24-foot glass wall looking south and west across the estate. Tastings take place in the Vista Room, a seated, semi-private hour of estate wines with the vineyard in view. Visits are by appointment.
$60 per person for the Vista Room Experience, a seated, semi-private tasting of about an hour, for groups of one to six. One experience fee is waived with a three-bottle purchase. Pricing for larger groups is available on request.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
