About the Winery

Chateau de Vie sits on Highway 128 just north of Calistoga, where rows of Cabernet Sauvignon surround a manor house that is also a small bed and breakfast. The wines are grown on the estate, from the same vines guests walk through in the morning. New owners took over in 2022, aiming to keep the estate's quiet character while bringing a fresh approach to the wines and the welcome.

For years the focus was a single estate Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2024 the estate brought in winemaker Angelina Mondavi, who has more than 28 harvests behind her and is also consulting winemaker for her family's C. Mondavi & Family. That same year Chateau de Vie added a Sauvignon Blanc, so today it pours two wines from its own Calistoga vineyard.

Visits are small and personal. Every tasting is private and hosted by advance appointment, often on the terrace looking west to the Mayacamas Mountains. The property is also an inn, with the Villa di Vie and the Carriage House suite set among the vines and French-style gardens, so you may share the grounds with overnight guests enjoying a quiet afternoon.

Tasting Fees

$75 per person for a private tasting of the estate wines, waived with a purchase of three bottles per person or a wine club enrollment.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
